There is a place in Las Vegas where they have an open lot and a handful of large equipment just so people can pay to play with them. It's like an adult sandbox.

I  was laughing about that with the guy that owns the equipment. “You know people pay to do this, right?”

Well, I used 4 cu. ft. of bagged top soil to fill in a hole in my front yard. Same thing, right?

Yeah, that sounds like a ton of fun. I'd pick that over most other touristy things

One of my favorite work days was when I was told to spend the day clearing fallen trees and some brush so I could build an access road the next day. The only tool I was given was a backhoe. I sat a Bluetooth speaker in the cup holder  and had a great day.

How’s the handling? Like does it naturally wanna oversteer or does it handle more like FWD?

Good point. With the tracks I can’t tell if it’s FWD, RWD, AWD, or technically all-of-the-above-wheel-drive. Or is it no-wheel-drive??

A friend of mine has a dirt business. I took the kids out to his place and he let us all take a turn in the equipment. As far as I know, my kids are the only ones in their schools who can say they’ve run a dozer and a backhoe and flown a plane and gone four-wheelin’ and ....

Life is about the experiences and my kids have had some excellent ones.

A few years ago, we needed some drainage trenches dug around our property. A contractor gave me a bid for $800.00. I also went to a local place that rented equipment and received a quote for renting a backhoe. Since it would take me longer than a skilled equipment operator, the backhoe rental, along with drain rock delivery, cost about $1,000.00 – about $200.00 more than the contractor.

Of course, I chose to rent the backhoe and do it myself. All that fun for only $200.00.

Final drive. Looking at the picture above, the final drive is in the rear. If you were to do a 180 in the cab, they would be in the front. I know this because I haul them for a living and ai always load the final drives on the rear of my trailer (because they hold the most weight and my trailer has extra axles.)
